Ivonne Rodriguez - Director
Ivonne moved to Georgia back in 1985 from her home town of San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is married and has a 13 year old son; Gabriel. They share their home with their 2 dogs and 7 cats!
In September 2005, Johnny Bowers, owner of Sunbrook Academy at Trickum, offered Ivonne the perfect opportunity! Since day one, Ivonne has been the director of this location and can not express enough how delighted she is to be a part of our team. Not only is she fulfilling her love and desire to care for children, but she is also impressed with the age appropriate curriculum, building arrangement, and friendly environment!
Ivonne brings with her a Bachelor’s in Arts in Spanish and Education from Kennesaw State University. She has also spent over 20 years in the child care industry with over 13 of them being in management.
Her general philosophy on child care is through her commitment to children, she wants to make sure they receive the best quality of early care and education that they could possibly receive.
Ivonne enjoys traveling, exercise, shopping and watching her son play baseball.
Joy Shaw - Assistant Director
Joy is a native of Georgia and has been married to her husband Stephen for almost 20 years. They have a daughter; Stephanie, and two sons; Skyler and Bradley. Joy comes to Sunbrook Academy with over 23 years of child care experience; 13 of this being in management. After graduating high school, Joy attended Gainesville College where she obtained her Child Development Associates certification.
Child care was her very first job experience and she has loved it ever since! Her reason for choosing Sunbrook Academy is the professionalism and fun learning environment that Sunbrook provides for the children and staff as well as the age appropriate curriculum.
Joy’s personal philosophy on child care is that she will continue to provide a safe, fun and loving environment for parents and their children.
Joy enjoys spending time with her family and photography.
